Golf Courses: Lakes Resort - Coromandel

Nestled in a sun drenched valley and surrounded by forestry, just 90 minutes from Auckland. Lakes Resort is the site of one of New Zealand's premier golf resorts. Lying amidst the preserved pristine landscape where forest covered hills blend in to some of the most spectacular wetlands seen on the Coromandel Peninsula, this international course opened for play in October 2004. Designed by Sid Puddicombe, the course meanders through natural wetlands and features man-made water hazards to play over. Its fairways and greens are amongst the best in the country.

Lakes Resort, Pauanui is the result of a single minded focus on the creation of a golf course which would be private and uninterrupted. Dedicated purely to the absolute love of the game. This visually stunning valley with its abundance of wildlife and wetlands inspired the creation of a natural course that was simply too good to bear the pressure of public play.

The golf course has received high recognition on it’s quality, course design and layout and playing surfaces that Lakes Resort has been accepted into the prestigious International Marketing and Promotional group called The Best of Golf New Zealand. Lakes Resort now stands alongside Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Terrace Downs, Wairakei Resort, Gulf Harbour, Formosa, Clearwater and Millbrook as one of the finest Resort Golf Courses in the country.
